i started working at CWA last august (2023) and it’s been one of my best jobs since graduating high school in 2015. i can’t speak to the school hours, cause im part time and only help out after school. with that being said, my experience has been pretty dope. most of the staff i’ve encountered with, have respected me and been quite nice. the kids are awesome and truly make working this job fun. their smart, funny and truly want to learn more about social issues impacting their young lives. i feel i’ve done a pretty good job at offering them a space to do just that, with the support the the after school extended day staff. while there are improvements, that i do notice; at the end of the day my priority is ensuring the kids in my care feel seen, respected and appreciated. which in my experience, isn’t easy in a work environment that does not want to be better. CWA has not given me a reason to doubt that they don’t want that same vision for their kiddos. which makes what i do, that much more fun and impactful.

The concern is real and sadly, it will take years for CWA to recover from the appointment of Susan Rice and the leaders she has hired to be her “yes mam” crew (there are 4-5 in particular). Look up the articles from Palm Valley School to see how history is repeating itself at Charles Wright. It is literally heartbreaking. Students are generally okay unless their parents speak up about ANYTHING. For employees, there is a constant fear of the Head of School: retaliation, impulsive and irrational emails, unprofessional behavior, and rash and reactive behavior at every turn. At least one person is fired a month (on average) - not exaggerating. The latest veil of lies is that folks are “medical leave.” However, they are never to be seen again and are quickly replaced with new folks who are none the wiser to the chaos and dysfunction. There has been so much turnover in HR, CFO, and accounting teachers that didn’t get W2s until mid-April. Pay and benefits have been compromised. And it’s always “someone else’s fault.” I can recommend CWA’s Lower and Middle School, but beware of trusting the head of school or the other division directors and after care leadership. They will label you as “not a fit” or “not mission aligned” if you are not 110% compliant and supportive of every policy and idea they come up with—and there are many! There are chameleons here who will play you like they play the board of trustees. Most disappointing is that the trustees are enabling the current administration to stay in the position of power and this dictatorship is crushing the heart and soul of CWA.

I was once physically attacked and hit in the face at this school. I got in trouble and yelled at for “cussing”. What happened to actions speak louder than words? (the student that hit me wasn’t even spoked to, and didn’t receive any punishment.) And no, this isn’t a rare experience at North Middle. This happens A LOT. It’s a sad excuse for a school.

The teachers at Murwood are phenomenal. They are exactly how you hope educators to be - engaged, caring, bright and wonderful with the kids. While the teachers are top notch, the district is the bottom of the barrel. They are poorly organized and create unnecessarily barriers to education. District policies are written without regard for parents or students. They completely disregard data and research related to education. It is unfortunate given the resources available (both financially and in the wonderful teachers) to the district that it is lead by individuals who oppose any efforts to ensure education is available to the children. By way of example, on Friday, April 19, 2024 they informed parents they needed to appear, in person, the next week on Monday (4/20), Tuesday (4/21), or Wednesday (4/22) to prove they reside in the district. Another example is that while they are mandated to include parent input if a child has an IEP, they will completely disregard parental concerns. They will, of course, check the box and say, "I heard what you said," and then impose district policies written without regard to the student. The actions show that the input was heard, and ignored. The problems with the administration create a cloud over the wonderful teachers on the ground level. If you have the option, avoid this district until the voters are able to replace the board with individuals who are more interested in the students.

We have had an extremely disappointing experience at Westgate. We found it unwelcoming, we experienced bullying, teachers that played favorites, teachers that didn’t have a mastery in the subject matter they were teaching, as well as multiple substitute teachers in a year. We found the leadership team to be lacking and we are looking forward to moving on to a new school. We feel that we were misled when we initially toured the school. There were so many claims and promises made that we never saw in our children’s time here. They are great at marketing their product but their follow through is poor.

This is a wonderful school that loves parent involvement and gives the kids so many hands on learning opportunities. They take field trips, do little skits, have cool hands on science projects, and learn a second language on Rosetta Stone. The parents are invited to stuff all the time, so many cool things. I can’t help but think that these negative posts are from the teachers that tried to unionize the school but failed.

This school is a great school… especially if you want your kids in a Christian school. Academics could be better, but over all it’s a decent school.

For seven wonderful years, Miss Bloomingdale's Academy has been our family's second home, where each of our three children has been embraced with love and care. From the tender days in the infant room to the exciting pre-K adventures, every moment has been filled with warmth and support. The staff at Miss Bloomingdale's Academy are simply extraordinary! Their nurturing and caring approach creates a loving environment where every student feels valued and supported. From the warm greetings at the door to the personalized attention in the classroom, it's evident that they prioritize the well-being and growth of each child. Their dedication to fostering both academic excellence and emotional development sets them apart. We couldn't imagine a more loving place for our children to grow and thrive. This is our last year at Miss Bloomingdale’s and we will miss them. Sending my heartfelt gratitude to the amazing team at Miss Bloomingdale's Academy for their unwavering commitment to shaping bright futures!

unprofessional, unfair, disrespectful staff, unsupportive, sexist, racist, homophobic, cocky, favoritism. It is simply are horrible school. The principal and counselors were so unsupportive and uncaring of their students, which is upsetting because they praise on the fact that they are the best school in Westchester(when they got a 2.8 rating) and they praise on how “they cherish and love and want the best for their students” but that’s only if the students are in sports, or any other extracurricular classes. They prioritize and care for the students who will make the school look good. There have been so many incidents that students advocated for help but yet those student received the “bare minimum”. Unfortunately, one of those students was my daughter and since the day we transferred her to this school, she has been treated unfairly and disrespectfully. She was then put in a very hard position where she needed help from the school which then she proceeded to ask for help, and what did the school do!? Nothing! And when confronted about the whole situation, they said “we helped and we got proof” what proof!? Till this day, I never got an email of the “proof” they claimed to have. My daughter felt uncomfortable, unsafe and just simply not heard from the people she thought she could trust. And honestly as a parent, I expect schools to protect and help my children when they need help! And unfortunately there have been many more students within the school who have also experienced this type of mistreatment.
